Hi
Welcome to Joey's website!
Berkeley TV Project
-
What is Berkeley TV? Berkeley TV is the school tv station where we report news or upcoming events through video. Also, we make fun videos like reaction video or DIY. This is to make people to be more interested to know more about Berkeley.
-
Who is the intended audience for Berkeley TV? Students, teachers, and everyone at Berkeley are the intended audience for Berkeley TV. They we get updates frequently on what’s coming. Also, people outside of school or students from other school can watch our video too because that’s what we do to represent Berkeley.
-
What is the purpose of Berkeley TV? The purpose of Berkeley TV refer back to what’s Berkeley TV. We want to keep updates on the school news and want every students to enjoy the video, rather than listening to the announcement. Also, for high school students, we get to practice working and help school with filming.
-
How did you and your team make sure your work was appropriate for the Berkeley TV context and audience? I am in the video team so that main thing that I need to make sure my work is appropriate for the Berkeley TV context and audience is that it must be easy to understand, so that kids understand. Also, the context of the video has to be about general things in Berkeley that we all have.
-
What research did you do before generating your ideas? We look up for other school’s tv show to generate out ideas. Different schools have different style so we wanted to make sure that we are on the right track. Then, we came up with list of ideas that suit Berkeley.
-
How did you generate ideas for your work? First, we need to come up with ideas that suit Berkeley. We also need to think about different videos for different events that are happening in Berkeley this year.
-
How and why did you select the ideas for the final work? We select the ideas for final work by the most important ones first, such as Berkeley Lion. Berkeley Lion is the most important one because it’s the symbol of our school and we would like Berkeley Lion to teach students how to do a certain things.
-
How did you develop your ideas beyond what you found in your research? We develop our ideas by going into details for every video that we are making. For instance, we want Berkeley Lion to stop students from elevator because it is against our school’s rule. Then, we need to write a script on it and consider how are we going to convey this message to the people.
-
How did you refine your ideas? We refine our ideas by make sure that the video represent Berkeley well.
-
Describe the process you followed to make your work. First, we need to make a script for different videos that we make. Then, I have to come up with camera angles and think about how am I going to film. For example, sometimes we want bird’s eye angle or close up of foods for the reaction video.
-
What decisions did you have to make? The main decisions for me that I need to decide is which camera angles suit the most with the video I’m filming. I also need to decide on how am I going to edit. Editing is very important because we want the result to look good and entertain people.
-
What techniques did you use? There are some techniques I use when I film, such as TV grammar and using stabilizer to make the video smooth.
-
Why did you choose those techniques? I chose those techniques I mentioned above because it’s the most effective for the video and make the result look good.
-
How did you refine your work after feedback from other teams and your teacher producer? We refine our work by adding a part that we are missing into the video and follow our teacher producer.
-
How did you refine your work after feedback from the client, Mr Simon? We refine our work by going and edit our previous and make it is better following Mr Simon’s suggestion.
-
What feedback did you give others to help them refine their work? I gave other people feedback usually on general stuffs, such as aligning the text in the middle or music should be faster for Berkeley Lion video.
-
How did you use the original brief to guide your work? We basically follow our original ideas with our scripts and planned work.
-
What problems did you and your group have during this project? There are some problems that we encounter such as the equipments we use for DIY video and camera angle for “All Paws In”, since we needed it to be bird’s eye angle.
-
How did you overcome these problems? We overcome these problem by having a good plan before actually filming so that we are prepared and not knowing what we have to do.
-
How do you think the Berkeley TV audience will react to your work? I think they will be amazed by the work we have done because we are a big team and each team work on different things just to make one video.
-
How might students in different grades react to your work? Students from lower grades will most likely to be more exciting more than older kids because older kids are more used to TV show, while kids in lower grade may not seen such TV shows.
-
How successfully did your final work convey all the ideas you intended it to? At this moment we didn’t know yet how kids react to our video because we haven’t start the actual project and we are practicing using our generated ideas.
