Hi
Welcome to Joey's website!
Unit 1-The False Prince Reflection
1. What does metacognition do for us?
Ans: Metacognition refers to "cognition about cognition" or "thinking about thinking". Metacognition help us plan what we need to do, based on the way we think. The way we think effects metacognition because it remids us to do the correct thing. Metacognition also helps us in learning because sometime we need to behave ourself. For example, I think that I should sit in front, so I won't sleep in class.
2. What brings a character to life?
Ans: What bring a character to life is that the author put problem and conflict in the book to make it looks realistic. The problem in the False Prince is Conner. Conner owns everything and he is in control of everyone. Sage is also included and he needed to go to sword fighting with his friends to be the prince. Plus, Sage also needed to learn with his history teacher and Sage didn't like it. Therefore, the problems make the story realisitc because there will alway be problems in your life.
3. What makes an effective communication?
Ans: In this unit, we had a discussion on the False Prince after we finished the book. Throughout those conversation, we needed to explain our thoughts, stated our opinion and gave examples. Sometimes, we also need to ask some question to keep the conversation going. For this reason, our friends could have ideas on our essay and they can learn from those words.
4. In what ways does literature connect to the larger world?
Ans: Literature connect to the world by book, newspaper, magazine and many more. In my opinion, the False Prince connect to the world by letting people read the book and let them know what is it about.
5. How does what you learned connect to the real world?
Ans: How does what I have learned connect to the world is that the False Prince's book has a lot of moral to it. The moral was has a life lesson and I really like it. One of the moral is that the most powerful guy doesn't need to be the leader. The other moral is that you need to be smart, in order to survive. Apart from that, we also learned how to read and write. We did a paragraph assignment for our essay and plus, we did the False Prince essay. So, we can use that skills and apply it to our future. Additionally, we also learned a lot of vocabulary from the book. For example, bethothed, snap, mumer, gasp and hisses. Moreover, we learned a lot of excellent phrase to describe action scene. One of them is "she smiled through her tears". Another great one is"Whispers and hisses flew through the room." In conclusion, I can apply all those new skills in the future essay or homework.
6. How did you delvelop or grow as a student throughout the unit?
Ans: For me, this is the first time reading a book that has more than 300 pages and it is a big challenge for me. However, I tried hard and tried to finish to book on time. Right now, I'm reading the Maze Runner and it is much longer than the False Prince. So I'm trying hard.
7. As you look at the work that you completed through this unit, what are your strength?
Ans: I think my strength on this unit is the silent assignment on Edmodo. The vocabulary and phrase are mostly from the False Prince and the Maze ruuner and I learned from it.
8. As you look at the work you have completed throughout this unit, what do you think you could improve?
Ans: Maybe I could tried harder to read ahead of the class to enhance my grade. Overall, I think I did pretty well this quater and this is the first time I'm in high school.
