Hi
Welcome to Joey's website!
Chemical Equations
Unit Overview: For students to learn the properties of a chemical equation. They will need to be able to understand the law of conservation of mass. The students will prove their understand of the law of conservation of mass through balancing equations. They will be able to identify the type of chemical reaction taking place from a balanced equation.
Personal Achievement: Balancing chemical equations can be challenging, but also fun at the same time. I think I did exceptionally well.
Enduring Understanding: Chemical equation is consist of reactant and product with an arrow between. Most of them follow the law of conservation of mass and are not balanced at the first time. In order to balance chemical equation, you need to adjust the coefficient so that both side have the same numbers of each atoms. There are five chemical reactions altogether. Synthesis(a+x>ax), decomposition(ax>a+x), single displacement(a+bx>ax+b), double displacement(ax+by>ay+bx), and combustion(both side have O2).
Reflection on Progress Towards the Standards:
Strengths: Demonstrates knowledge of all types of chemical reactions
Areas for Improvement: Applies mathematical representations to balance chemical equations
I know a lot about each five chemical reactions. I was able to determine which type of reaction for each chemical equation.I need to improve on balancing equation, especially for the test on the future. I struggled on the test whenever I find challenging question.
