Democratic Process Reflection

 

What did you learn during this unit? What types of activities helped you to learn?

In this unit, I learn a lot about political parties, such parliamentary and presidential democracy. We had to write a paragraph on our opinion, then we created a venn diagram as a class to show the differences and similarity between parliamentary and presidential. Also, this help us to divide down the key main ideas. We also created a democracy timeline, which shows important events happened in the history. By the end of the unit, the class got divided into two parties, republican and democratic. Each sides have to make a campaign and promote themselves. This helps us to understand even further on how the president runs the party and the things to consider when comes to managing.

Enduring Understandings: How do democratic political parties gain control of government?

In order to win the vote, each political parties have to do a certain things to promote themselves. First, a party must have a strong communication and message to the society. Campaign’s message is the most important because it contains the ideas that the candidate like to share with the voters. This helps convey the main ideas and addresses policy issues. Then they need to find a way to effectively attract many viewers through the use of media (television, newspaper, the internet, etc.). This helps ideas to be easily spread to the world because people from different places could have a chance to response. Also, making a video is another way to grab audience’s attention because it is appealing to their eyes and coveys the message easily.

Area of strength: What do you feel you did well and why?

​

I think I did well on interpreting central ideas and provide an accurate summary of sources while demonstrating relationship among idea and evaluates multiple sources to synthesize and integrate information. This is because I could read, using multiple sources and tell which piece of information is important. When writing an essay or a paragraph, this is the most important because we need to have a good central ideas.

Area of growth: What do you think needs improvement and how can you improve for the future?

​

However, I think I should improve on my grammar and organization. My grammar is my main issue, which I could use Grammarly to edit my work. A few things that I can improve is to learn from my mistake and keep reminding myself. For organizing the work, I could make sure that I’m not going out of my topic and make sure the readers can easily understand.
