Number and Quantity

Standards where I performed well: knows there is a complex number i that is not equal to –1, and every complex number has the form a + bi with a and b real. I was able to determine the final solution in the the form a+bi.

Standards upon which I might improve: solves quadratic equations with real coefficients that have complex solutions. Often time I make lots of silly mistakes and had to come back and change the answer.

How I might improve upon those standards: I should practice the steps of simplifying quadratic equations. This involve in factoring out the common factor.

Example below shows the step of solving equatio, involving with complex number, i. First step, you need to square root both side to get ride of the power. Now that you have come to the point where there is negative root, which is unaceptable, you need to put i following the base of that number.
