State and Democracy

 

Unit Achievement: What did you learn during this unit?

 

I learned about what is a state, democracy, and globalization. Territory, people, and sovereignty are the three things that represent a state. A state has to be able to control its territory and people of the population has to follow the law. I also learned about democracy that in order for a country to be a democracy, citizens need to have a right to vote and have the freedom to influence the country. Lastly, I learn about globalization on cotton. So, globalization is about many countries from around the world come together and make one product.

 

Essential Understanding

 

Why is a democracy the most popular form of government? Democracy is the most popular form of government because every person feels they need freedom in their life, such as the right to vote. Also, people have more freedom to speech and can criticize their government.When the country is in democracy, people are more equal and can choose what they want, not like when the military in control where no one can choose who is going to be the country’s leader.

 

Strengths: What did you do well this unit?

 

I think I did well-summarizing ideas from different sources. I think because of this I learned a lot from my essay, about is Thailand a democracy or not. I think the information on my essay is good enough and tell an overview of Thailand’s politic in the past years. However, my grammar might not be that good. Also, I think I did well in answering the question in google classroom. I think I understand well on what is a state, democracy, and globalization.

 

Areas of growth: What do you want to improve for the future?

 

The main I need to focus on is my grammar. This is my biggest problem that I need to improve on. How I can improve is to learn from my mistake and use Grammarly to help me a bit. Sentence structure and uses of vocabulary are what I can also improve on and that will help me on my future essays. Additionally, I think I can focus on more specifically on my essay, such as talking about only about Thailand’s new constitution.

 

Evidence: Why did you choose this piece of evidence?

 

I chose this piece of evidence because it is the biggest work I did this quarter for social study. I did a lot of research from many websites and that show my work the most. This work is also a work that I learned the most from, about Thailand’s politic for past years. I also think that this is the most interesting topic I ever did and got to learn about Red shirt and Yellow shirt, coup d'etat, and Thailand’s new constitution.
